LOS ANGELES -- While the Los Angeles Lakers shouted and shoved each other with elation, Luke Walton managed to look unsurprised by the incredible upset unfolding before them. The Los Angeles Lakers were battering the mighty Golden State Warriors. Waltons championship-tested former team just couldnt catch up to his young, hungry new squad.Although its far too early in the season to truly celebrate anything, Walton thinks the Lakers future is fascinating.Lou Williams scored 10 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter, and the Lakers snapped Stephen Currys NBA-record streak of 157 games with a 3-pointer during their 117-97 victory Friday night.Julius Randle had 20 points and 14 rebounds, and DAngelo Russell added 17 points for the rebuilding Lakers. They built a 21-point lead in the third quarter and hung on to shock the Warriors at Staples Center for the third consecutive season. It obviously feels better because theyre the best, Walton said. Theyre as good as it gets. ... But it was just good to see the progress continuing. After his first meeting with his former team and his coaching mentor, Steve Kerr, Walton claimed the win meant nothing special to him -- but he could understand why the Lakers and their fans might feel differently.Los Angeles has made a habit of surprising the Warriors recently, but as Williams put it: This one was valid.Weve got a lot of young talent here, Williams added. Finally its starting to look like we have some pieces in the right places.Kevin Durant scored 27 points and Draymond Green had 16, but the Warriors never led and couldnt entirely close the huge gap in the second half while falling to 4-2. Golden State didnt lose its second game under Walton last year until Dec. 30.One night after Durant scored 39 points to beat his former Oklahoma City Thunder teammates, the Warriors scored a season-low 15 points in the first quarter and never fully recovered. You dont like the feeling at all, Curry said. But youve got to wrap your head around where you are in the season, and the good weve shown early in the year, but also focus on the things we need to work on. Regardless of a game like last night or tonight, we still have some things we need to work on.STREAK SNAPPEDCurry scored 13 points while going 0 for 10 from 3-point range, ending several incredible long-distance streaks. He had hit a 3-pointer in every regular-season game since Nov. 11, 2014.Including the postseason, Curry had at least one 3 in 196 straight games, and he had also hit in 116 straight regular-season road games -- both NBA records. That was a cool little ride, Curry said. Would have loved to finish my career making one every game, but hey, start a new one. What was it, like two years? Kind of weird not to make one, but I will keep shooting.NOT AGAINEight months ago at Staples Center, the pre-Durant Warriors also lost 112-95 to the worst Lakers team in franchise history, one of Golden States mere nine losses last season. Another bad Lakers team also beat Golden State at home on Dec. 23, 2014.Its our annual beatdown at Staples by the Lakers, Kerr said. They do this every year. Lets just give them credit. They came in sky-high with a ton of energy, played really well, and we were flat, right from the beginning.TIP-INSWarriors: Durant scored at least 20 points for his 70th straight game, surpassing Michael Jordans 1990-91 streak and matching Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the sixth-longest such streak in NBA history. ... G Patrick McCaw is still out with an ankle injury. ... Drake, Denzel Washington, Dodgers slugger Yasiel Puig and Kings goalie Jonathan Quick were among the crowd that turned out to see the revamped Western Conference champions.Lakers: Timofey Mozgov played despite a bruise around his left eye, courtesy of an elbow from Indianas Jeff Teague earlier this week. The Russian center was considered doubtful for the game after missing Wednesdays win in Atlanta, but Mozgov played 16 minutes. ... The Lakers wore throwback uniforms from their Showtime era, although their current uniforms are only slightly different.UP NEXTWarriors: Host Pelicans on Monday.Lakers: Host Suns on Sunday. Steve Bono Jersey . McCarthy, a player who played some games in the second tier for Wigan at the start of this season, would go on to shine inside Evertons midfield, outplaying the man he was brought in to replace, on one of the grandest stages in English football. On Saturday, it was fitting that Manchester Uniteds most recent dagger into the chest was delivered by Frenchman Yohan Cabaye, a wonderfully gifted central midfielder who put on an outstanding effort for Newcastle at Old Trafford. Lawyer Milloy Jersey .J. -- Marty Brodeur beat the Pittsburgh Penguins yet again. http://www.custompatriotsjersey.com/cust...1141f.html . Mats Zuccarello and Derek Stepan scored shootout goals, and backup goalie Cam Talbot earned his second win in two nights as the Rangers shook off a late tying tally and beat the Maple Leafs 2-1 Monday night. Ken Willard Jersey .com) - Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Roger Federer were easy first-round winners Tuesday at the Australian Open. J. J. Stokes Jersey . The Croatian served 21 aces and hit 42 winners against Sijsling, who double-faulted to give Cilic a 4-3 lead in the deciding set. "All the players, they know me and they were really happy to see me and they were really happy that this is over for me," Cilic said. WACO, Texas -- Baylor has touted itself as the nations top offense for the past three years, and with good reason. The Bears have led the country in scoring and yards per game over that span, so it was strange for the home fans to see them sputter in the first half, without a touchdown while locked in a low-scoring tie with SMU.No. 23 Baylor finally reached the end zone with its opening march of the second half, igniting a 20-point third quarter on the way a 40-13 rout of the Mustangs on Saturday.Seth Russell threw for 261 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another score following the 6-6 halftime tie, and the Bears went on to a 13th straight victory over their former Southwest Conference rival.Give it to SMU, Russell said. They were flying around on defense. They were giving us things we hadnt really seen them do, and they have some really good players on their team. Theyre going to do a great job in their conference. Theyre going to be a tough team to beat.Baylor missed on several deep shots in the first half, but Blake Lynch capped its opening march after halftime by breaking free in the right seam for a 31-yard touchdown reception from Russell, who added a 19-yard scoring burst on a scramble on the Bears next possession. Russell was 26 of 47 with two interceptions.Orion Stewart intercepted two passes for Baylor. The first was in the end zone to stop a promising SMU threat, and he returned the second 33 yards for a touchdown to push Baylors lead to 26-6.Redshirt freshman quarterback Ben Hicks, who was a high school classmate of Stewarts in Waco, made his first career start for SMU (1-1) in place of senior Matt Davis, who left last weeks win over North Texas after taking a hard shot to the midsection and was listed as a game-time decision during the week.Hicks helped the Mustangs to 405 yards total offense, but he was intercepted three times -- twice in the end zone -- and SMU scored only one touchdown in five trips inside the 20.I talked to (Stewart) a little after the game and during the game, Hicks said. I wish I didnt throw it to him all night, but thats just how it goes sometimes.dddddddddddd. Ill bounce back, and Orions a great player.SMU outgained Baylor 184-32 in the first 10 minutes, but got just two field goals from Josh Williams.Baylors Blake Lynch lost a fumble into the end zone that SMU recovered on the best scoring chance in the first half. On the opening drive of the second half, he lost his defender on a hitch-and-go for an easy 31-yard score.Russell finished 26 of 47 with two interceptions.Hicks threw for 144 of his 229 yards in the first quarter, and connected with Courtland Sutton for SMUs only touchdown, a 20-yarder, in the third quarter.I felt like our guys deserved to be in that moment, SMU coach Chad Morris said. Im extremely excited about the direction of where our football program is going.POLL IMPLICATIONSFlorida dropped out of the Top 25 following an unimpressive win over UMass last weekend. The Bears probably spared themselves the same fate by outscoring the Mustangs 34-7 in the second half.THE TAKEAWAYSMU: The Mustangs were much more competitive than they have been in their last three meetings with Baylor in which they were outscored 160-45. But they still have a long way to go to compete with ranked teams. SMU gets another shot in a visit from No. 15 TCU on Sept. 23.Baylor: Its a sign of how strong the Bears offense has been in recent years that it gained more than 500 yards and still didnt look sharp for much of the game. Baylor turned the ball over three times and was 8 of 21 on third down, but still had plenty of firepower to pull away in the second half.UP NEXTSMU: The Mustangs schedule lightens up next week when they welcome FCS school Liberty to Dallas for their home opener.Baylor: The Bears have a short week before playing their second Friday night game of the season and first road contest against Rice.---Online: AP College Football website http://www.collegefootball.ap.org ' ' '
