a jumper by Johnson that made
#1
Vince Youngs days with the Green Bay Packers are over. Jonathan Goodwin Jersey . Johnny Jollys comeback is apparently complete. The veteran quarterback, vying for a backup job, went on Twitter on Saturday to thank Green Bay for giving him an opportunity and wished the team well this season. Youngs departure would leave just B.J. Coleman on the roster to back up Aaron Rodgers. Young was one of 22 players released Saturday by the team to get down to the 53-man roster limit. "Thanks to (Packers) for the opportunity ... Wonderful fans. Good luck this season," Young posted. Running back Alex Green, who led Green Bay last year with 464 yards on 135 carries, was also cut. DuJuan Harris secured the job down the stretch in 2012, while Eddie Lacy and Johnathan Franklin were selected in the draft to beef up the backfield. Harris was placed on injured reserve recently with a knee injury, leaving questions about the backfield depth chart. The Packers will go into the season with Lacy, Franklin, veteran James Starks and fullback John Kuhn in the backfield. Defensive lineman Jollys return from a three-year layoff appears certain after surviving Saturdays roster cuts. Jolly had been suspended by the NFL for violating the leagues substance-abuse policy and served about nine months in prison. On Twitter, Jolly thanked the Packers and their fans for "the support and opportunity. I wont let you down!!" Jolly has looked good in camp, displaying his knack to swat passes. He had a sack in the final preseason game Thursday against the Chiefs. Young struggled in that game, going 14 of 30 for 144 yards with two fumbles. That followed a strong showing the previous week against the Seahawks. The Packers signed Young on Aug. 6. Before that, he was out of football for a year after being cut by the Buffalo Bills. Drafted by the Titans, Young has had a checkered career as a starter in Tennessee and as a backup to Michael Vick with the Philadelphia Eagles. Hes been to two Pro Bowls, and has a 74.4 career passer rating. The Packers may still be looking for a veteran backup. Coleman was 2 of 7 for 19 yards against the Chiefs. Green Bay also released veteran backup Graham Harrell earlier in the preseason. Harrell has since signed with the Jets. Elsewhere on offence, the Packers went with Jarrett Boykin and Jeremy Ross to back up the top trio of Randall Cobb, James Jones and Jordy Nelson at wide receiver. Among other cuts by the Packers were fullback Jonathan Amosa; offensive linemen Andrew Datko, Garth Gerhart, Kevin Hughes and Patrick Lewis; defensive backs David Fulton, Loyce Means, James Nixon, Chaz Powell and Brandon Smith; receivers Charles Johnson, Tyrone Walker and Myles White; tight ends Matthew Mulligan, Jake Stoneburner and D.J. Williams; linebackers Terrell Manning, Dezmen Moses and Donte Savage; and defensive tackle Jordan Miller. Jermon Bushrod Jersey .The result meant Juventus will spend the winter break three points clear of Roma after the league leader beat Cagliari 3-1 on Thursday.Milan remained seventh ahead of the rest of the weekends fixtures, but was provisionally two points behind third-place Napoli in their duel for the final Champions League spot. Jim Dombrowski Jersey . Saltalamacchia drove in the go-ahead run in the ninth inning, Henderson Alvarez won for the first time in three starts and the Miami Marlins beat the Braves 3-2 on Thursday night. http://www.customsaintsjersey.com/custom...2332e.html . “Momentum is only as good as the next days starter,” the long-time Baltimore Orioles manager famously quipped.CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Nick Johnson scored 25 points and No. 3 Arizona beat Oregon State 74-69 on Wednesday night in a back-and-forth game that wasnt decided until the final minutes. Kaleb Tarczewski added 12 points and nine rebounds for the Wildcats (28-2, 15-2 Pac-12), who had already clinched the regular season conference title. The Wildcats have won five straight with their last loss on Feb. 14 at archrival Arizona State. Roberto Nelson scored 25 points and Devon Collier had 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Beavers (15-14, 7-10). Arizona built several leads during the game but couldnt pull far away from a feisty Oregon State team. Arizona opened the game on a 7-0 run before Oregon State responded and took a 10-9 lead on a steal and layup by Hallice Cooke at the 14:13 mark. The Wildcats gradually crept away, and an alley-oop pass from T.J. McConnell to Johnson for a dunk that put the Wildcats up 31-22 with 3:53 left in the half, their largest lead of the game. Arizona led 36-33 at halftime. The Beavers went ahead 46-44 after consecutive 3-pointers by Cooke, the latter at the 15:15 mark. Arizona went on a 7-0 run that ended with a jumper by Johnson that made it 58-51 with about 10 minutes left, but Oregonn State again responded, tying the game at 58 on a layup by Eric Moreland with 8:13 left. Doug Atkins Jersey. The Wildcats forced turnovers on three straight possessions and took a 69-64 lead with 1:36 left. With 30 seconds left and the score the same, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson blocked a shot by Cooke. Hollis-Jefferson finished with 13 points and six boards. Oregon State outrebounded Arizona 43-34, only the sixth time Arizona has lost the rebounding battle this season. The Wildcats crushed the Beavers on the boards 39-24 in the teams last meeting on Feb. 9, which host Arizona won 76-54. The Wildcats forced 17 turnovers and only committed eight. Arizona won its 108th game in the last four years, the best four-year stretch in school history. Oregon State hasnt beaten a top-5 team since it upset No. 3 Arizona 70-69 in Corvallis in 2000. It hasnt beat a top-25 team in more than three years. Nelson came into the game leading the Beavers with a 20.6-point average. He is on pace to become the first Oregon State player to lead the conference in scoring since Gary Payton in 1990. Cooke, a freshman point guard, who was 7 of 31 from the field in his last four games, finished with 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting. ' ' '
